As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace. Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

VATICAN II: DECREE ON THE APOSTOLATE OF THE LAITY
Indeed, everyone should painstakingly ready himself or herself personally for the Apostolate, especially as an adult. For the advance of age brings with it better self-knowledge, thus enabling each person to evaluate more accurately the talents with which God has enriched each soul and to exercise more effectively those charismatic gifts which the Holy Spirit has bestowed on all for the good of others. (no. 30)

In CALLED AND GIFTED, the American Bishops cite four calls: the call to adulthood; the call to holiness; the call to ministry (Christian service - ministry in the world and ministry in the Church); and the call to community.

Mission of the Office of Lay Ministry Formation
Recognizing that lay ministry is a vital ministry in the Church today, the Office of Lay Ministry Formation seeks to provide ongoing comprehensive ministry formation and learning for people of all walks of life. Our foundational goal is to help ministers respond to their baptismal vocation by nourishing the life of faith within themselves and developing greater understanding of the scriptures, our Catholic tradition, and the mission of Jesus Christ.
