President Appointed for Mahoning Valley Regional Catholic School System

            Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed Dr. Lois Cavucci the

President of the Mahoning Valley Regional Catholic School System, effective July 1, 2012. Dr. Cavucci

currently serves as principal of Our Lady of Peace School in Canton.

            The President is the Chief Executive Officer and, as such, has the responsibility for the business

aspects of the schools, marketing and development, and oversight of the total educational program. The

President is the leader and facilitator of the community of faith and bears ultimate responsibility for the integrity

of the doctrine and practice of the spiritual life of the schools. The President works closely with the principals,

pastors and other groups within the Catholic school community to provide leadership with regard to the purpose,

values, goals and financial well-being of the schools.

            Dr. Cavucci has also served as principal of St. Anne Elementary School in Austintown, Ohio, and as

principal at St. Patrick Elementary School in Kent, Ohio. She also served as Director of Personnel for the Office

of Catholic Schools of the Youngstown Diocese. She earned her Master of Science Degree in Educational

Administration (2003) and her Educational Leadership Doctorate Degree (2009) from Youngstown State

University. In addition to her administrative responsibilities in the Diocese, she has also served as a teacher in

Diocesan schools and as an adjunct professor at Walsh University and the University of Dayton. She is a

member of the National Catholic Educational Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum

Development, and a member of the Honor Society for Phi Kappa Phi.
