LIMEX Orientation Meeting Planned for August 14
Tuesday, 17 July 2012 12:47

The Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education announces an Orientation Meeting for the Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry Extension (LIMEX) Program on Tuesday, August 14, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the St. Columba Social Hall, Youngstown, Ohio. Prospective students overview this program of graduate ministry education, sign a learning agreement, register for Course One: Introduction to Practical Theology, and schedule the sessions.

Loyola University Institute for Ministry, in cooperation with dioceses and other sponsoring agencies across the United States, Scotland, England, Canada, Switzerland, and Belize, responds to the needs of ecclesial ministers with limited access to Catholic graduate ministry formation opportunities by offering on-site programs leading to the master of religious education and master of pastoral studies degrees with focus areas in small Christian community formation, pastoral life and administration, religion and ecology, marketplace ministry, Christian spirituality for ministers, youth ministry, and Hispanic ministry. These same programs also offer a Continuing Education Certificate (noncredit) with an undergraduate option.

Ten of the courses are taken in learning groups; each course is led by a LIMEX certified facilitator. Sessions for each course employ a design in which lectures in printed form and other required and suggested readings are correlated with the participant’s experience by means of reflective processes. Students also choose two additional courses in their focus area. In these courses, a multimedia course packet is provided to students. The packet guides the students through a learning process that combines independent study and peer group sharing.

For more information, contact the Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education: 330-744-8451, www.doy.org or visit www.lim.loyno.edu. Registration for the Orientation Meeting is requested.
