Pastor Appointed to St. Christine Parish, Youngstown

             Reverend John E. Keehner has been appointed pastor of St. Christine Parish in Youngstown by Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown. The appointment is effective September 22, 2012.

            Father Keehner completed seminary studies at Mt. St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. Following ordination on June 12, 1993, he was appointed associate pastor at St. Charles Parish in Boardman. In 1997 he began graduate studies in Canon Law in Rome, and returned to the diocese in 1999 as a Judge for the Diocesan Tribunal. Father Keehner was appointed Vice Rector of St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown in 2000. In 2003 he was named Director of Campus Ministry at Youngstown State University, in addition to his assignments at the Cathedral and Tribunal. He was appointed Advocate, Judge, Defender of the Bond and Episcopal Delegate on the Diocesan Tribunal in 2004. Father Keehner was appointed Rector of St. Columba Cathedral and Pastor of St. Casimir Parish in Youngstown in 2007. These two parishes have since merged as St. Columba Cathedral Parish.

            Father Keehner also served on the Diocesan Priests Council as an appointed member and administrative secretary; the Diocesan Board of Religious Education; and the Board of Mediation and Arbitration for the Diocesan Office of Conciliation.
