Mass for Life
Friday, 21 December 2012 16:28

Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, will celebrate the annual diocesan Mass for Life on Saturday, January 19, at 12:00 noon at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 West Wood Street in Youngstown.

At the Mass, expectant parents and their families will be invited to receive a blessing for their unborn baby. The new “Blessing of a Child in the Womb” was granted Vatican approval in March, and was created to encourage prayer and recognition of the precious gift of the child in the womb, and to foster respect for human life within society.

Following the Mass, a pasta luncheon will be provided in St. Columba Hall.

The Mass for Life is held annually to encourage respect for all human life and to

mark the 1973 Supreme Court decisions Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which legalized abortions through all nine months of pregnancy.

All are welcome to attend. No reservations are necessary.
