Fifth Annual Bishop Franzetta Memorial Lecture Series Scheduled for Nov. 5, 2013
Thursday, 10 October 2013 14:07

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown announces the fifth annual lecture of “The Bishop Benedict C. Franzetta Memorial Lecture Series” on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mt. Carmel in Youngstown. The series, established by Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., on February 6, 2009, is designed to further the Church’s mission of evangelization.

Bishop Franzetta served as Auxiliary Bishop of Youngstown from September 4, 1980, until his retirement on September 4, 1996. He died September 26, 2006, at the age of 85. His motto, “Into Your Hands, Lord,” was taken from the last words of Christ on the Cross according to Scripture (Luke 23:46). This is also a prayer used in the Church’s official night prayers and had been a favorite of Bishop Franzetta’s since his seminary days.

Richard Jusseaume, President of Walsh University, will speak on the topic, “Higher Catholic Education.”

Supporters of the series are welcome to become sustaining patrons, friends or sponsors.

For more information or to register, call Linda Tedde at the Diocese of Youngstown, (330) 744-8451, ext. 252. The cost is $25.00 per person and reservations are required. Deadline for reservations is October 25, 2013.
