Chancellor Appointed for Diocese of Youngstown

              Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed Reverend Monsignor John A. Zuraw as Chancellor of the Diocese of Youngstown, effective July 1, 2014.   Msgr. Zuraw’s appointment follows the retirement of Mrs. Nancy Yuhasz, Chancellor of the Diocese since 1996.

            Bishop Murry said, “I am happy to welcome Monsignor Zuraw back to the Chancery Office and look forward to working closely with him in his new role as Chancellor.”

            Msgr. Zuraw   was ordained June 20, 1987, following seminary studies at Mt. St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati.   Msgr. Zuraw has served as associate pastor at St. Louis Parish in Louisville and St. Rose Parish in Girard, where he currently serves as pastor. He also served as Administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish in Youngstown. Msgr. Zuraw previously served as Executive Director of Clergy and Religious Services, Vocation Director and Vicar for Administration of the Diocese of Youngstown. He is currently Director of the Permanent Diaconate program. He was named Chaplain of His Holiness (Monsignor) in 1997. He earned a Licentiate in Canon Law from Catholic University of America in 1999.

            Msgr. Zuraw also served on the Diocesan Board of Religious Education, Diocesan Tribunal, Priest Personnel Board, Ursuline High School Board and Regional Catholic Charities Board. He currently serves as a member of the College of Consultors and is Chairman of the Presbyteral Council.
