The Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown and the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America announce the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant Celebration on October 26, 2014, 2:00-6:30pm., followed by an optional supper, at University Parish Newman Center, Kent State University, with Trinity Lutheran Church, Kent, Ohio.

Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., presides at Evening Prayer at 5:45pm with Bishop Abraham Allende, NEOS ELCA, as the homilist.  This event celebrates the Lutheran-Catholic Covenant signed in October 2000 by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin and Bishop Marcus Miller.

Reverend Doctor Walter F. Taylor Ph.D., Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio and Reverend Gerald J. Bednar Ph.D., St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology, Cleveland, Ohio will each offer reflections on the theology of the cross.  Table discussions, Q&A, Evening Prayer and an optional Supper prepaid with registration follow their presentations.  Proceeds from a free will offering during worship assists “Lord’s Lunches”, a meal ministry for the homeless and needy hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church and supported by University parish Newman Center.

Participants are welcome 2:00-2:30pm for the Celebration 2:30-6:30pm followed by an optional supper with prepaid registration.  The registration fee is $5.00 for the day or $15.00 for the day and optional supper.  University parking is available.
