All Catholic high school aged teens, grades 9 to 12, are invited to a day of prayer, learning, service and celebration at the 2016 Diocesan Youth Convention (DYC’16).  It will take place on Sunday, November 6 at St. Michael the Archangel parish in Canton.  The DYC’16 theme is “Mercy Begins With Me.” Participants must register through their parish youth ministry contact or Catholic High School Campus Minister.

DYC’16 will begin with OCP/Spirit & Song artist Ben Walther. He has spoken at the National Catholic Youth Conference, Los Angeles Religious Education Congress and the National Catholic Singles Conference.  Originally from Texas, he and his wife and 6 children live in North Canton and participate at St. Paul Parish.

The Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown will entertain questions from the teens during a “Conversation with the Bishop” session prior to celebrating the event Closing Mass.  Teens will also have the opportunity to select two workshop breakouts, learn more about area community service agencies and Catholic institutions in the “Mercy in Motion” inter-active exhibits area, celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation, and enjoy a pasta dinner.

All participants are asked to bring personal care items (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.) to donate to the diocesan Catholic Charities agencies and the Harriett’s Cupboard ministry that assists families with necessary items that the SNAP benefits do not cover.
