Brief History:

Originally established as a mission in Mantua in 1864, it wasn't until 1923 that Rev. E. Gracey supervised the building of the first St. Joseph Church serving 35-40 families. Forty years later, in 1963, with Msgr. Rev. Francis Hughes as pastor the present church, school and hall were dedicated. The parish has undergone tremendous growth, from the small group who founded the mission in 1864, to the nearly 1000 presently registered families at St. Joseph. Activity abounds at this parish located in Northern Portage County from the nearly 30 parish organizations, committees, and ministries to the the quality Parish Religious Education program for students in grades K-8 (St. Joseph School closed June, 2010).
