Welcome Young Adults!

Who are Young Adults?
The Unites States Catholic Conference of Bishops defines young adults as those who are post-high school and in their twenties and thirties. This includes singles, young couples, young parents, religious and clergy!

Where can young adults get connected to Church?

  • Local parishes are the first place to look. Check out the Adult Religious Education opportunities, Bible Studies, parish missions, and speaker series. Also, join a parish organization like the Women's group, Men's group, a Small Christian Community/Renew group, Knights of Columbus, or Social Justice committee. Take part in parish socials like coffee and doughnuts after Mass, or a spaghetti dinner. Consider serving in a liturgical ministry (lector, usher, Eucharistic Minister, choir.) Help out with children's religious education/CCD or youth ministry, if you feel called. Volunteer with the RCIA program, Confirmation Preparation or Newcomers Ministry.
  • Have a college campus nearby? Why not see if there are events open to all young adults, not just the college students. Often, the campus ministers connect young adults to retreats, days of reflection, speaker series, leadership development, and more!
  • Join the Diocese of Youngstown - Young Adult Ministries (DOY YAM) group on Facebook

    • As you may already be connecting with friends, coworkers and peers on Facebook, why not also begin networking with other Catholic young adults around the diocese? The group is for those in their 20s and 30s to share ideas, event news, and questions.
    • Check it out here: Doy YAM Facebook
    • Administered by the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry. NOTE: The group is "open" though, so we cannot guarantee that every post is appropriate. We do hope though, in good faith, that people who join this group are Catholic Young Adults and will post accordingly!
