President Appointed to Cardinal Mooney High School

            Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, has appointed Reverend Gerald DeLucia as President of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, effective July 1, 2012. Father DeLucia currently serves as Chaplain at Cardinal Mooney High School.

The Office of President has as its primary purpose to provide leadership of the school in order to achieve the fullest attainment of the mission statement of Cardinal Mooney High School. The President is the Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Mooney High School and, as such, has the general charge and control of its personnel and budget, educational and development programs, recruitment, business affairs and facilities.

The President is the overall leader and facilitator of the community of faith. As the Bishop’s representative in the life of the school, he/she bears ultimate responsibility for the integrity of the doctrine and practice of Cardinal Mooney High School.

The President works closely with the Principal, the Board of Directors, other members of the administrative team and with groups within the school community to provide leadership with regard to the values, goals, programs and financial well-being of Cardinal Mooney High School.

The President bears ultimate responsibility for the operation of the school that is accomplished through specific persons as agents of the President. The President’s authority and duties include the responsibility to administer, direct and coordinate all activities of the school system and to carry out its philosophy and objectives.

The President is responsible for the operation of the school, for the application and implementation of established policies and for liaison between the Board of Directors and employees of the Corporation.

 Father DeLucia completed seminary studies at Mt. St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. Following ordination on June 17, 1978, he served on the faculty at Cardinal Mooney High School. He served as associate pastor at St. Paul Parish in Salem, St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown, Holy Family Parish in Poland and St. Nicholas Parish (now Christ Our Savior Parish) in Struthers. Father DeLucia served as pastor at St. Paul Parish in Salem, Holy Rosary Parish in Lowellville, St. Rose of Lima Parish and St. Lucy Parish in Campbell. He also served as Chaplain at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown. Father DeLucia was pastoral director at Catholic Television Network of Youngstown and diocesan directory of Hispanic Ministry. He previously served on the diocesan Priests Council and Priests Personnel Board, and was a member of the diocesan College of Consultors.
