Diocese helping Afghanistan relief

Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the official overseas relief and development agency of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, has called upon Catholics and others to raise money to help in the immediate and long-term needs of the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

CRS is committed to raising $50 million in order to meet the needs of the Afghan people and respond to the growing refugee population in Pakistan. The efforts of CRS now could be the difference that prevents many Afghans and refugees from starving this winter.

Donations to support the work of CRS in Afghanistan/Pakistan can be sent to: Afghanistan Fund/CRS, c/o Office of Social Action, Diocese of Youngstown, 144 W. Wood St., Youngstown, OH 44503.

For more information contact Brian Corbin, diocesan director of Catholic Relief Services, at 330-744-8451, ext. 320 or write to charities@youngstowndiocese.org.
